Latest Honda CRF 250L Tweaks

Just a quick update: Have made a few little tweaks to our Honda CRF250L before our trip to van Reenen on the KwaZulu Natal/Free State border. Have a few rides planned – the dirt rode up van Reenen, Collins’ Pass, de Beer’s Pass and a few other routes – so watch this space for the ride report and movie…

We have an Oxford 26l tail pack and it’s always been a bit fiddly to attached it to the bike – I just don’t have the patience for that – so I made a plate that the pack attaches to and then this simply bolts onto the bike luggage rack. Hopefully it will live up to expectations.

The other thing I did was to lower the pillion foot pegs. I know we are probably pushing the little CRF250l beyond its limits but that’s what the situation is at the moment. I have my eye on a 650 or 660 bike in the medium term future, but for now we are bombing around on the Honda and having a great deal of fun on it. Pat has always found the pegs a little high so off the standard ones came and I made up a simple little bracket that mounts to the standard foot peg mounts and to the frame where the rear sub-frame attaches to it.

Look out for a report back on the van Reenen ride and check out or two modification videos here and here

The lowering mount for the pillion foot pegs was made from 20 X 6mm mild steel. Foot pegs are of the "universal" el cheapo kind.
